Asheville's U.S. Cellular Center has landed another sports event.

The center will host a men's college basketball tournament called Battle in the Blue Ridge and will be on the Friday-Sunday following Thanksgiving.

The tournament will host four teams as prep for March Madness.

This latest announcement comes after a renewed contract for the Southern Conference Tournament, and landing the women's Fed Cup tennis tournament.

Also, this sunday, the U.S. Cellular Center will host a double-header Mountain Invitational.

The venue and the sports commission have been working hard knocking on doors to get more sports in the city

U.S. Cellular Center Manager Chris Corl says, three years ago, the center was booked for 180 days of the year.

Now, he says, bookings have increased to 250.

He credits the improving economy, and the $14 million-dollars in renovations spent for new seats, new lighting, and new acoustics.
