WLOS - American Legion baseball is in full swing and two WNC teams got together Friday night for a back-and-forth affair. The Asheville Post 70 Cardinals played host to Burnsville Post 122 at T.C. Roberson High School. The visiting Timberwolves tallied a pair of runs in the first inning and added to their lead when Kannon Coates sent a rocket to the hot corner that third-baseman Xavier Stewart was able to knock down, but his errant throw to first allowed Ty Walters to score from second.

The Cardinals drew within one in the home half of the inning when Sam Duncan smashed an RBI single past first base that plated Will Westbrock. That brought the score to 3-2.

Burnsville's Lee Ballard answered in the top of the third with a monster solo shot to left.

Despite being in the two run hole early, the Cardinals mounted a comeback and took the game 6-5. With the win, the Cards improved to 4-4 on the season, while the T-Wolves fell to 1-3.
