Brevard holds off Owen on Thursday Night Lights
Brevard - The Brevard Blue Devils got two fourth quarter touchdowns from Stevi Benjamin to edge Owen 27-22. The win is Brevard's fourth straight, they are now 4-1 while Owen falls to 0-4 with the loss.
The game went back and forth. Brevard got on the board in the second quarter on a 5 yard td run from Anthony Field. Owen then got a 26 yard touchdown pass from Auden Meyers to Ty Davidson who appeared to be out of bounds but call was touchdown and the game was tied at the half 7-7.
In the third quarter both offenses came to life. MitchellJohnson got Brevard in front completing a 17 yard td pass to Luke Ellenberger to make it 14-7 Blue Devils. Owen came right back and got a Meyers to Frank Walsh 6 yard td pass but had the point after blocked and still trailed, 14-13. Right before the end of the 4th quarter Meyers conntected with Nolan Pressley on a 14 yard touchdown pass to make it 19-14 Owen but they couldn't convert on a 2 point conversion.
In the fourth quarter, Benjamin exploded. He scored on a 58 yard jaunt to give Brevard the lead again. 21-19. Owen answered on a 24 yard field goal from Caleb Walsh with just over 4 minutes 15 left in the game. The Blue Devils answered with a 65 yard drive, capped off by Benjamin's 10 yard touchdown run with 1:02 to go. He gained 97 yards on 6 carries.
Owen drove into Brevard territory in the last minute but a couple of deep balls were knocked down to ensure the Blue Devils victory.
