WLOS - Brevard and Rosman may be separated by about ten miles, but being fellow Transylvania County schools makes for an intense rivalry. Whenever the two get together current records rarely matter. The game means so much, it got its own day this year. With almost every area school off the night before Christmas Eve, the Blue Devils paid a visit to the Tigers.

The varsity girls got the action started and Rosman quickly jumped out to an 8-2 lead. With three minutes left to go in the first quarter Brevard started a 10-0 run that put them ahead by four. The Blue Devils pushed their lead to 11 in the second quarter, but the Tigers chipped it down to seven at intermission, 33-26. By the fourth quarter Brevard had its lead up to 11, a lead Rosman could not overcome as the Blue Devils topped the Tigers 63-53.

The varsity boys were the same story: back and forth with neither team able to build and hold a substantial lead. Breylan Owens led the Blue Devils with 18 points and 9 rebounds, one of four players in double figures for Brevard. The Blue Devils swept the varsity rivalry series with a 61-56 win in the boys game.

Brevard (6-7) is off until January 5th when they head to Franklin High School. Rosman (4-3) takes on North Buncombe on Thursday in the Tuscola Christmas Tournament.
