Pink Out youth football games benefit local cancer center
WLOS - R.L. Dalton Stadium is usually decked out in green and gold, but there was an accent of pink on Saturday. The East Buncombe Youth Football and Cheer League held a day of "Pink Out" games to benefit the Hope Women's Cancer Center. Players and fans wore pink attire, pink balloons adorned nearly every fence post, and donations were accepted at the concession stand. The opponent for the day, Brevard, also participated. "When we put the word out for our folks as well as Brevard, everyone mobilized to try to come up with creative ideas to raise the awareness and the visibility of breast cancer," said league president Darrell Poole.
The money raised will go towards gift cards for travel expenses for women undergoing cancer treatments.
