Ed DiOrio is thrilled to be telling the stories of Western North Carolina as he joined the News 13 team as a reporter in July 2023.
He started and spent his last two years in Steubenville, Ohio, working as a News & Sports Anchor/Reporter at WTOV9. Along with that, Ed was on the mic in-between innings as the On-Field Emcee for the Washington Wild Things Baseball team in Washington, Pennsylvania. Before then, he was a board operator for the world’s first radio station, KDKA Radio.
Ed’s career started in a small town called Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. His degree in communications with a focus in sports broadcasting was earned at Waynesburg University. He’s also a proud alum of Hempfield Area High School in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Ed was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. He calls Pittsburgh his home and is a proud Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and University of Pittsburgh fan! While he hides his Pittsburghese accent while on-air, Ed looks forward to bringing the best parts of Western PA to Western NC!
In his spare time, Ed enjoys listening to a variety of music genres, golfing, and is always looking for the nearest karaoke bar. He has an appreciation for all arts, as he took part in theatrics for over six years. However, Ed’s favorite thing to do is get to know people. He enjoys talking to anyone and hearing what makes them unique, and he can’t wait to do that in the Asheville area!
